What the project needed.
Cubic Waste needed more than a standard website. The business required a customer-facing platform that made skip hire straightforward, but it also needed a connected internal system to manage what happened after a booking was placed. From incoming bookings and payment handling through to driver assignment, delivery, collection and job progression, the operational side of the business needed a practical digital workflow rather than disconnected manual processes.
On top of that, the system needed to be usable on mobile for day-to-day operations and secure enough to protect business data, staff access and active jobs.
What we found.
We mapped the complete Cubic Waste workflow from the customer’s first interaction through to final job completion. This included the public booking journey, service selection, collection of job details, payment handling, operational job management, delivery and collection scheduling, driver assignment and internal status tracking.
It became clear that the customer-facing website and the internal management system could not be treated as separate tools. They needed to work as one connected platform, with the same booking information flowing through from the website into the operational side of the business.
We also identified the need for a mobile-friendly application experience, as operational staff needed to manage and review jobs away from a desk, and secure user control was essential to prevent misuse or uncontrolled multi-device access.
The direction we chose.
The strategy was to build a connected digital ecosystem rather than just a brochure site with a contact form. Cubic Waste needed a platform that served two distinct but related audiences: customers booking skip-hire services, and staff managing the real operational work behind those bookings.
We therefore split the solution into a customer-facing booking website and a bespoke internal management environment, while ensuring both parts remained tightly connected. The system also needed to function effectively as a mobile app-style experience so that operations could be managed in the field as well as in the office.
Security and control were also important parts of the strategy, so access to the operational platform needed to be restricted and managed in a way that protected business activity and reduced the risk of uncontrolled account sharing.
What we created.
Phoenix Pixel Studios designed and developed a bespoke website for Cubic Waste with an integrated online skip-booking journey built around the company’s services and customer workflow.
Alongside the public website, we created Cubic Operations — a custom business system designed specifically for the internal day-to-day running of the company. This platform gives the team a central place to manage incoming bookings, job information, driver assignments, skip deliveries, collections, payment tracking and booking progression.
We also developed the system as a mobile app-style experience, allowing Cubic Waste to use the platform in a practical and flexible way beyond the desktop environment. This made it easier for staff to access and manage operational information while working on the move.
The operational system was also built with strong access controls in mind. User access is secured and restricted, including single-device login control, helping ensure that each login is tied to one active device at a time rather than being freely shared across multiple devices. This gives the business more control over account usage and helps protect sensitive operational data.
The result is a connected digital platform where the website does more than generate bookings — it feeds directly into the internal system that helps Cubic Waste manage, fulfil and monitor those jobs efficiently.
What the project delivered.
Cubic Waste now has a digital platform built around the way the business actually operates. Customers can move through a dedicated website and online booking journey, while the Cubic Operations system gives the team a centralised environment for managing bookings, assignments, skip movements, payment status and operational progress.
Rather than stopping at the point of enquiry or booking, the platform continues into the operational side of the business, giving Cubic Waste a stronger and more scalable foundation for managing work consistently as the business grows.
The addition of the mobile app-style operational experience and the secure single-device login control also gives the platform a stronger practical and security-focused edge, supporting both everyday usability and controlled internal access.
